 What's on this weekend? - Part 1

I'm back with another weekend preview but slightly different to last time. After advising Big Rock as an ew bet at 13/2 and proceeding to not have a penny on, I think it might be wiser to do a summary of the better racing at the weekend with less of an angle into punting unless there are some glaringly obvious bets that can't be glanced over!

Friday - Cheltenham

The jumps are back at HQ on Friday and the action kicks off with a tidy handicap for conditional jockeys. Afadil is the favourite for promising rider Freddie Gingell but he faces stiff opposition from Swinton 1-2 Black Poppy and Teddy Blue. Father and son partnership Chris and Freddie Gordon will be hoping Our Champ can win again following a fine return to action. A few Irish riders are sent over the sea and Phil Kirby will be hoping his former Irish inmate Jason The Militant can recapture some of his old spark. There's a 4 runner novice chase after that and Cromwell will be hoping My Mate Mozzie will win following a shock defeat at 8/15 at Fairyhouse last time out. Another horse who needs to put a disappointing result behind them is Encanto Bruno who is now also in the care of Cromwell, he runs in a competitive novice hurdle at 14.45 where 24 length Perth winner El Elefante heads the betting. The Novices handicap chase looks exciting; Idalko Bihoue fell on chase debut but I believe he was bought for a big price tag and the yard thought a lot of him. He was sent off favourite for his debut before falling at the sixth, if well backed then he could go well. Railway Hurricane is a second season novice and will be hoping to go one better than his visit to the track last year. Way Out is going for a four-timer and Hurricane Bay is also a likeable type. There's another Irish favourite in the grade 2 novice hurdle that follows. That looks a lively affair where the 2 mile hurdlers will be throwing their hats into the ring. I've seen Williethebuilder in a few horses to follow lists on twitter so good luck to his fans. The penultimate race is an amateur jockeys chase, Christian Williams looks to have perfectly laid out Strictlyadancer for it, he might just be a bet despite being 11/2 in a 20 runner field. Finally my old pal Milkwood returns in the handicap hurdle that closes the card but Lallygag was well fancied for the Silver Trophy at Chepstow before being withdrawn so he could be a tough nut to crack. As could Angels Breath who was favourite for a Supreme once upon a time! If he's back to his beat then he could he anything and win this by a dozen lengths.
